12 Days of Christmas - Day 4

Phew, almost missed today's post!!  It's been a busy day, bowling with the kids, babysitting the neighbour girl, tidying up, family movie night... wouldn't trade it for the world :)

So, today's card!

This is an oldie but one of my favourite, and most popular cards frm last Christmas! :)

Supplies:
stamps:  Mr. Twigster - retired I believe!  But he's too cute to put away for good!
ink:  Jet Black Stazon, Real Red, Pumpkin pie, a blue for the shadow
cardstock:  Whisper White
accessories: aqua painter to make the shadown on the ground, and dazzling diamonds glitter :)

Have a happy day!

12 Days of Christmas - Day 3

How time flies!  We went to a Young Families Christmas dinner at church tonight.  It was a 'specific potluck' in that we all brought something to the turkey dinner.  I did the turkey and the gravy, another family brought mashed potatoes and apple pie/ice-cream, another snacks and drinks, another veggies, another stuffing, etc.  It was SO good!!  The kids had a blast, even without planned activities, they just loved to run and play with each other :)  We'll have to do this again for sure!

So... on to today's card! :)

SUPPLIES:
cardstock:  Always Artichoke, Cherry Cobbler, Whisper White
ink: Always Artichoke, Cherry Cobbler, Daffodil Delight (for the star)
accessories:  ornament punch, dazzling diamonds or rhinestones, I forget!  I used both of those and pearls on these cards this year :)

I LOVE this colour combo... Cherry Cobbler is definitely my GO TO colour this Christmas :)

Have a happy day!

12 Days of Christmas - Day 3

Back to cards, on day 3!!  Hmmm, maybe this should have been a countdown...?!  LOL  Only 9 more days till Christmas!  Today I will double up I think, and share two cards, if you don't mind ;)  They are both featuring the Marina Mist cardstock/ink, but the pictures look like it's two different colours!  I hate that! LOL  For the card on the left, I stamped the clear block D in Marina Mist onto scrap paper first, then stamped onto my card.  I then rolled the edges of the clear block in Night of Navy and stamped directly over the Marina Mist.  I LOVE how this works, and will be using it more in the future! :)  Marina Mist is my new favourite blue!

Supplies:
cardstock:  whisper white, marina mist, rich razzleberry, pink pirouette, night of navy
stamps:  serene snowflakes, christmas punches, clear block D on the card on the left
ink:  night of navy, marina mist, pink pirouette, rich razzleberry
accessories:  marina mist ribbon, scalloped circle punch, 1 3/8 circle punch, retired rich razzleberry polka dotted ribbon

12 Days of Christmas - Day 2

Another day, another project! :)  Today I think I'll show some ornaments that I have made :)  These are all for sale, should you decide you want to purchase one or two :)

These were such fun to make!!  Stretched my thinking beyond the 'page' for using stuff I have had, but didn't want to use, hoarding is such a problem for me ;) LOL

SUPPLIES:
accessories:  Holly Jolly Rub Ons, Very Vanilla Seam Binding, Cherry Cobbler Marker
other:  glass ball ornaments, irredescent "Easter Grass"

I didn't order the Cherry Cobbler seam binding, by mistake!!  However, I had the vanilla, so I just whipped out my marker and dyed a few feet of it to match the ornaments!! :)  It worked like a charm :)

These ornaments are $4.00 each, and there are more to choose from!!

Have a happy day!

Silver Glass Glitter!

Oh it's so pretty!!!  It's not sparkly, but it is oh so shiney!  I whipped up this card for my wee Sophia for her birthday last week.  I wanted to put it in her lunch bag to surprise her, and she loved it! :)  It was simple, but impressive :)

SUPPLIES:
Stamps:  Perfect Punches - clear mount
Cardstock:  Whisper White
Ink:  Pretty in Pink
Accessories:  Silver Glass Glitter (holiday mini), Glue Pen, Wide Oval Punch

I punched out the Wide Oval first, from the front of the little card - I believe it's 2x3 or so, some old retired pre folded cards with envelopes.  Anyway, I punched out the oval, and then I carefully lined up the clear mount stamp to stamp inside.  Another great reason to LOVE the clear mount stamps! :)  I traced the outline of the oval and the little swirl with the glue pen, then sprinkled with the silver glass glitter! Here's a close up of the oval with glitter :)

Back to school with MDS!

Ok, so I realized today that THIS YEAR'S back to school photos are still on Michael's BlackBerry.  So I went back to 2009 to do them up instead :)  I based my layout on a page done by Heather S.  I LOVE using MDS (My Digital Studio), and forget how fun and easy it is!  I love how many options I have and how quick and NOT messy it is! :)  I love how I get my photos into albums without worry, and even tho I will NEVER give up paper scrapbooking, this is helping me catch up :)

I did some colour matching to get the red from the bean plants behind the kids, and to reflect a little of Zachary's back pack.  I love that feature!!  The colours are mainly Pacific Point, Early Esspresso, Basic Black,  & Whisper White.  I used stamps for "first" and fonts on my computer for "day of school 2009" :)  Now if I could only remember what happened to Sophia's face at the end of summer, we'd be all set!  That's what I get for waiting to scrapbook it :)

So if you are free on September 18th, come on out to the Allanburg Community Centre from 9-3 to check out the scrapbooking vendor faire!  I will be there with my booth, and I'll have an MDS video running while I"m there :)  Come on out and check it out! :)

Have a happy day!

Back to School cards!

I made Back to School cards again this year.  I have been making them for the teachers for the past few years, and decided that I should make them for the children as well! LOL! :)  So I did.  I made the same for the kids as I did for the teachers, just changed up the writing on the 'chalk board' :)
The teachers liked them, and the kids were happy to have a note from me in their lunches... I was even asked if they were getting a note EVERY day!! LOL!  I will have to do this more often!

There is a 'make your own sale' sale happening for my newsletter subscribers!  Sign up box is in the top right hand corner, under the header :)  Sign up today and get the sale!

Stamping on Cake!!

Yes, you read that right, stamping on CAKE!  Today is my wonderful husband's birthday.  We have an anual Labour Day BBQ at my Aunt and Uncle's house, and sometimes Michael's birthday falls on Labour Day :)

Anyway, b/c of the bbq, I said I would bring dessert.  So baked up a fabulous, from scratch, chocolate cake.  OOOOOhhh it is so good! I got a new recipe for chocolate fudgey filling from my friend Lisa, and it was a HUGE HIT!!!  I mean, my cousin's husband thought it was from a local bakery!!  WHOOT!

So I learned how to do a crumb coat, and I had a crumb free icing.  I then put red shells on the bottom and the top of it.  I wrote "Happy 35th Birthday Mike!" on it, but it still looked... well, boring.   LOL  It's true.  It did.  So I went down to my crafty studio, and came up with a swirly stamp from Christmas Presentation.  I gently pressed the stamp into the icing, which had hardened just enough... and then piped red icing over the impression.  SO EASY!!!  I plan to do this more!! :)

So here's a photo :)

This was my first attempt at this.  My hand was not too steady, and I think I need to adjust the consistency of my icing, or get a different tip.  But overall, I am super pleased with how this turned out!! :D  It tasted fabulous too :D

There's LOTS of cake here, enough for the children to take a piece to school, and for us to have it again after supper tomorrow night!!  Insanity I tell ya... but a nice treat for the kids for the first day back to school!

Have a happy day!

Wow, it's been a while!

Good intentions to post daily, and the summer is getting away from me fast!  Julie-Anna has been to sleep away camp, we stayed overnight one night wtih my brother, Piranhas swimming is in full swing, soccer too!!  It's just crazy.  Next week we are away at the trailer, soI hope to get some posts set up to auto post while I'm gone :)

Anyway, I whipped up this MDS creation using a colour combination from the AWESOME AMAZING NEW COLOUR COACH!! :)

SUPPLIES:
ink: basic black
cardstock:  baja breeze, soft suede, cherry cobbler
accessories: baja breeze grosgrain ribbon/knot, scallop trim border punch
stamps:  favourite things

I love this combo!!  I never would have thought of it on my own :)  Cherry Cobbler is on my list of top favs of the new colours :D

Friday 9 July 2010

Whoa! My 200th post! :)

Another MDS creation for you.  Same sketch as yesterday, but flipped around.  I LOVE IT :)

SUPPLIES (All MDS)
cardstock:  textured garden green, colour matched blue on the top
designer series paper:  Summertime Splendor (MDS only)
accessories:  black and white brads, black satin ribbon/knot, oval punch, rounded corner square
stamps: Define Your Life, All Holidays
ink:  basic black

Oh I love this!!! :)  I used a square punch to make the bottom DSP.  I just enlarged the punch, and paper fiilled.  Then I wanted the corner of the paper with the orchids.  If you double click on the punched image, it will let you drag the paper around until you get the part of the paper you want :)

Tomorrow is a big day, as it's our first swim meet of the summer!  Sophia and Zachary have never done a meet before, so this should prove to be fun! :)

Have a happy day!

MDS birthday and the AMAZING new Colour Coach!

I belong to a group of demonstrators online.  They had a Chat and Challenge tonight, which means, chat and try to create something with a sketch someone has created :)

So this is my take.  I got my MDS out again, and I forget how much I love it :)

SUPPLIES:  (All MDS)
cardstock:  Textured Pumpkin Pie, Textured Rich Razzleberry
designer series paper:  Tempting Turqoise Script
accessories:  brads, modern label punch, grosgrain ribbon
stamps:  A Little Birthday Cheer
ink:  Basic Black

And now, for the fabulous colour coach!!  It's new, it's revised, it's SO AMAZING!!!  It's like a paint chip from the home improvement stores!  The front is a full colour swatch of the colour in question.  On the back are 2 different combos... "Creative Combination" and "Sweet Set" which makes you think outside the box!    It also gives you a "Dynamic Duo" which also is amazing!!  I cannot get over how awesome this tool is now!! :)

Wedding Shower Card

So my cousins daughter is getting married in a few weeks.  Man, how time flies... I remember when she was born, and babysitting her and her older brother.  Now both will be married folk come mid Aug!  So there was a bridal shower today.  I LOVE the Blissful Bride stamp set!!  It's clear, of course :D Anyway, her wedding is all outdoors, and so the colour theme is green and brown.  I helped her with the invites a bit, but what a pain that she wanted Kiwi Kiss as the green, and it's retired.  She also wanted Early Esspresso as the brown, but it wasn't out yet! LOL!  I did find a sheet of Kiwi Kiss for this card, and some old ribbon too :)

SUPPLIES:
Stamps:  Blissful Bride  (Summer Mini)
Cardstock: Early Esspresso Texture, Kiwi Kiss, Very Vanilla
Ink:  Early Esspresso, Blushing Bride and Poppy Parade (2010-11 In Colours), Jet Black Stazon
Accessories: markers, Dazzling Diamonds Glitter, ribbon, paper piercing tool, Vanilla Smooch Spritz, Stampin' Dimensionals, Distressing Tool from the cutter kit

I LOVE how this card turned out!!  The ladies at the shower oo'd and aah'd over it :)  Always makes me feel good when someone else says thing like that :D

Happy Canada Day!

I know this card is a repeat post of one earlier in June, but I thought it befitting to the day :)

SUPPLIES:
Cardstock:  Whisper White, Real Red
Ink:  Basic Black, Real Red
Stamps:  Canada Day Clear Mount
              119889 $24.95 wood
              120042 $19.95 clear

I sponged the edges of the word block with real red, to make it pop a little, then used Stampin' Dimensionals to pop it off the paper.  I was inspired for this card by someone in my Summer Mini swap... I think Kathy Burke or Blair Moch, I forget, and didn't have it handy to reference!

I LOVE this Canada set!!! :)

Teacher End of Year Gifts

I'm back to creating.  It's been an insane two weeks, but school is out, work is over for me for the summer, and we have a few days respite before we head into the summer months of busyness with swimming and soccer and more!

We have three wonderful children.  They had three fantastic teachers this year.  So I made them each a set of 6 cards with envelopes for their year end gift.  They all expressed their thanks for them, with two teachers saying they had run out and would use them for special things only! LOL! :)  Always good for the heart :)

SUPPLIES:
ink: Regal Rose, Rose Red, Wild Wasabi (returning in colour, new to the core colours!  WHOOT!)
cardstock: Whisper White, Rose Red
stamps:  Awash with Flowers (2 step stampin'), Because I Care (hostess set, level 1 new catty)
accessories:  Purely Pomegranate satin ribbon (it is long retired, but it matched so well, and I am about using up my supplies now!), Dots embossing folder for the Big Shot - simple yet elegant :)

Accessories:  Stampin' Dimensionals, white organdy ribbon, corner ticket punch, Aqua Painter

To note:  I stamped the floral part of the flower 3 times.  I then cut it out, and then cut it out two more times, getting smaller each time.  It gives the flower a bit of dimension, which you can't see very well on the photo, but it's WOW in real life!  I popped the leaves up a bit to match.  I also took the Marina Mist marker and traced around the edges of each flower petal, to add some detail.  This set is SO MUCH FUN!!!

Scrapbook Yardsale - THE GREAT PURGE!

So on Friday night, I sat down and reorganized my markers, taking out all the retiring colours, putting my new marker colours and insert into my marker case.  Seeing the words "30 colours are retiring" sounds big... but SEEING all the colours piled up - markers, ink pads, etc.... it looks so much BIGGER!!

But that means there is more for YOU!!  More to sell in the yardsale, kijiji, online, and ready for NEW new NEW accessories and colours and stuff!!!

28 ink pads I have to release to new homes.  I did keep a few of my favourite colours tho :) LOL

Last night I sat and took my new catalogue out, and went through each and every stamp set I own.  I haven't done the 'great purge' of that cupboard in a while it appears!!  This picture doesn't even show it all.  I have a banana type box that is almost full too!

Time to pass on the beauty to other folks :)

I do hope to create today, but am aiming on getting some class kits by mail put together and mailed out this evening, and doing some more purging today too!! :)

Have a happy day!

Have a Sweet Celebration!

Zachary had a birthday party to attend yesterday.  He insisted that Brooke's favourite colour was blue.  I don't know if that is true or not (Amanda, can you enlighten me?! LOL).  Anyway, I whipped up this card for her before the party :)  The party was ghostbusters themed, and Zman got her a Littlest Pet Shop set... he wanted me to make a pet shop card, but um, I have nothing... so sparkley ice cream it is!!! :D

SUPPLIES:
stamps:  Sweet Scoops clear mounts
cardstock:  ballet blue, shimmery white
designer series paper:  Maine Blueberry (retired)
ink:  ballet blue, bashful blue, bordering blue, real red, chocolate chip, night of navy
accessories: polka dot embossing folder, white organza ribbons, markers, scallop trim border punch, stampin' dimensionals

I don't know if she liked the card or not, but I DO!! :D

Have a happy day!

Happy Canada Day!

Yes, you read it right :D  I've been busy making our anual Canada Day party invitations :)  We have had a bbq for the past 4 years, I think this is the 5th year for it.  We invite church friends, school friends, and some neighbours... potluck with the salads and desserts.  Then we all head down to Port Dalhousie for the big fireworks display!

I was super excited to see a fantastic CANADA set in the summer mini (linked on the right!).  I HAD to have it, and have it I do :)

SUPPLIES:
Cardstock:  Whisper White, Real Red
Ink:  Basic Black, Real Red
Stamps:  Canada Day Clear Mount
              119889 $24.95 wood
              120042 $19.95 clear

I sponged the edges of the word block with real red, to make it pop a little, then used Stampin' Dimensionals to pop it off the paper.  I was inspired for this card by someone in my Summer Mini swap... I think Kathy Burke or Blair Moch, I forget, and didn't have it handy to reference!

There may not be a posting tomorow, as we are going to the Americana!!  Sophia won it on a radio contest, so we'll be gone till after supper tomorrow evening :)  FUN TIMES!!!

Have a happy day!

Guest Poster - Micheal Beaudry!

My crazy wife made me do this while we were stuck in traffic on the I90 on our way home from Syracuse. I had gone to the Stryper concert in T.O.'s at the Reverb on Sept 27. The concert was absolutly awesome and my crazy wife loves me so much that she got me back stage passes to meet the band.

**I'm not crazy! ;)  I do think Michael would LOVE to see some comment love for his efforts tho... he's mighty proud of his first attempts at scrapbooking! :)

So I had to draw for a new winner for my 5000 hits blog candy winner.  Random.org drew a number, 26, and it was an annonymous comment... drew another, and it was number 29, and that's TERRIAVIDREADER (IN USA).  Terri, can you email me asap with your mailing info so I can get your kit out to you!? :)  THANKS!!!

If I don't hear from the winner by Sunday morning at 9am, I will draw another winner Sunday night!

40th Anniversary card - smooched pansy!

My neighbours from the neighbourhood I grew up in celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary this past Sunday.  Shout out to Jim and Sylvia for reaching such a milestone!!  A fantastic accomplishment for sure!!  Their children threw them a huge party on Sunday afternoon - more food than we could all eat, music, lots of pictures from the past 40 years, and visiting with friends and neighbours we had not seen in a very long time!

So before we went, I created them this simple yet elegant anniversary card.

SUPPLIES:
Cardstock:  Night of Navy, Shimmery White
Ink: Night of Navy, Summer Sun
Stamps:  Medallian (background stamp), Well Scripted (yes, from the Occassions Mini, but I love it, and hope it makes it to the new catalogue in July!)
Accessories:  White Taffeta Ribbon, Vanilla Smooch Spritz (on pansy, ribbon, and 'congratulations'), silver brad, Stampin' Dimensionals

I so LOVE how it turned out!!  The Smooch Spritz was just the thing to take it up a level!

Have a happy day!
