Guest Poster - Micheal Beaudry!

My crazy wife made me do this while we were stuck in traffic on the I90 on our way home from Syracuse. I had gone to the Stryper concert in T.O.'s at the Reverb on Sept 27. The concert was absolutly awesome and my crazy wife loves me so much that she got me back stage passes to meet the band.

**I'm not crazy! ;)  I do think Michael would LOVE to see some comment love for his efforts tho... he's mighty proud of his first attempts at scrapbooking! :)

40th Anniversary card - smooched pansy!

My neighbours from the neighbourhood I grew up in celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary this past Sunday.  Shout out to Jim and Sylvia for reaching such a milestone!!  A fantastic accomplishment for sure!!  Their children threw them a huge party on Sunday afternoon - more food than we could all eat, music, lots of pictures from the past 40 years, and visiting with friends and neighbours we had not seen in a very long time!

So before we went, I created them this simple yet elegant anniversary card.

SUPPLIES:
Cardstock:  Night of Navy, Shimmery White
Ink: Night of Navy, Summer Sun
Stamps:  Medallian (background stamp), Well Scripted (yes, from the Occassions Mini, but I love it, and hope it makes it to the new catalogue in July!)
Accessories:  White Taffeta Ribbon, Vanilla Smooch Spritz (on pansy, ribbon, and 'congratulations'), silver brad, Stampin' Dimensionals

I so LOVE how it turned out!!  The Smooch Spritz was just the thing to take it up a level!

Fabulous purses! (Top Note Die)

At Christmas time I was making these fantastic purses to sell at local vendor fairs/craft shows.  I also started making them as the projects for girls birthday parties! :)  What a hit!

I recently had an order for two purses, and one was specifically asked to include turquoise and pink.  Island Oasis paper is just the fit for that!  So I made one... the other purse just had to be pink and girly, so I had one of those on hand already, but thought I would share it here too :)

SUPPLIES:
Cardstock:  Tempting Turquoise, Old Olive (for the circle behind the cut flower 'clasp')
Designer Series Paper:  Island Oasis (from the Summer Mini - link to the right)
Accessories:  Rich Regals eyelets, white taffeta ribbon, Big Shot Top Note Die, Scallop Circle Die, Scallop Circle 2 die, Stampin' Dimensionals
Other:  velcro

Here's the two purses together.

Have a happy day!

When I first posted my contest to get to 5000 posts, I figured it might be the end of May, or even into June before I got to that point.

Today, right now, we are FIVE POSTS AWAY FROM A WINNER!!!  WHOOOOT!  I guess I'll be random.orging tonight :D  - OK, edited to say that when I started writing this post, we were at 4995, and now we are ove 5000!

How exciting!!  I was featured on the Crafty Storage blog yesterday, and I guess it has driven a lot of traffic to my blog!  YAY FOR TRAFFIC! :D

So, I'm so excited!!  I'll have to start thinking of another contest to move us forward, and this has totally inspired me to get some more crafting done myself!! :D

An MDS Creation

Ok, it's been over 6 months since JA turned nine.  It's about time I did something with the photos!! :D  I've decided that at least once a week, one of my shared creations should be digital.  Afterall, what good is the software (which is AMAZING and can be shared between two computers! YAY for Stampin' Up!) if you don't use it?! :)

I should be able to share the supplies I used, but I can't.  LOL!  I was browsing so much and just pickin' through all the selections.  I did use a preset layout, which was new for me.  I was able to whip up this page lickity split!!  JA's favourite colour is blue, so naturally, I used blue :)  I made the cake from scratch thanks to Bernadette sharing her secret recipe!  I carved and iced, and it tasted yummy and looked fun!!  We had an UNsleepover... well, 3 girls stayed the night... the rest came in jammies, with pillows and stuffies.  We watched a movie, played musical pillows, ate pizza, veggies/dip, and cake!  It was so much fun!!!

Remember, a little comment love will get you more entries as we zip along towards 5000 hits!! :) Become a follower, post/facebook/tweet about the blog candy giveaway and earn extra entries!! :)  Don't forget to let me know :)

Butterfly Pansy!

Oh I am LOVING this new technique. The results are amazing, and it's not a tonne of work for a gorgeous result!!  I have seen these all over the internet, and so put my hand to it this morning before work.  Most samples I have seen use Eggplant Envy, but I don't have that colour reinker (I do however, happen to own THREE Night of Navy reinkers! LOL).  So I went searching the net for other colours of pansy.

This pansy is called the "cheeky faced blue pansy" and it fit right in with the reinker colours I have!!  So this is what inspired the pansy card below:

SUPPLIES:
cardstock:  Night of Navy, Shimmery White, Summer Sun
ink:  night of navy, summer sun (reinkers and markers)
stamps:  Well Scripted (from Occassions Mini, now out of print, but hopefully it makes it to the new catty!)
accessories:  Big Shot, Top Note Die, Butterfly Punch, Wide Oval Punch, White taffeta ribbon** (it's there, dyed Night of Navy!!), silver brad, Manhattan Floral embossing folder, aqua painter

**So I wanted to add a bit of 'pizzaz" to my card, and I have the awesome new white taffeta ribbon.  It didn't show up against the shimmery white paper.  What's a girl to do?! Dye it!!  I started using the rinker, but I didn't have a container to put it in, so I whipped out the Night of Navy marker and coloured it.  Turned out FANTASTIC!!  Once the ribbon was dry, there was no ink transfer, now, if it gets wet, it's anybody's game, so we'll just keep our cards and scrapbook pages dry now :) LOL  What a great way to get the ribbon of your choice of colour for ANY project you are working on!!!

Enjoy the day, and don't forget about the contest - a little comment love gets you another entry in the contest! :)

See ya!

Blog Candy!

I recently had to reset my stat counter for some reason.  No, not reset, I had to reinstall.  I lost my counts.  Oh well, such is life.

I have made a few decisions in the past few days.  One is that I'm going to post something EVERY DAY (but maybe not always on Sat and/or Sun).  It makes me create more.  Sometimes it may not be creative, like today, so far.  Sometimes it may be a SU! announcement, or special or something.  But I'm trying to draw traffic to my blog, and therefore increasing my business :)  You see, there's an incentive trip to the HAPPIEST PLACE ON EARTH!!  So it's my motivator.  Starting now :)

So, back to blog candy, and my stat counter.  I see that I'm zipping along, heading quickly towards 5000 hits!  I know, a drop in a pond compared to some, but it's my pond, my drop! :D  So... for comments left between May 1 - until I reach 5000 hits will be entered into a draw for... one free Class By Mail Tropical Party scrapbook kit!  Every comment you make* (one per blog post, you can go back and comment if you like!) will increase your chances of winning!  When the stat counter reaches 5000, I will use random.org to choose a winner :)  Earn extra entries by blogging about any of my creations from May 1 onward, posting on facebook, and becoming a follower.  You'll have to put in seperate comments when you do each of those things.  Yes, you can blog/facebook more than once about my creations, just link back to my blog in your post and put it in your comments :)  Phew... I can't wait for all the commenting to begin!!! :)

* I have made changes to the commenting section, so you should have no problems now! :)

Storage of clear mount alphas!

So I got Rough Type, from the Summer Mini catalogue.  I've even used it already, on a scrapbook page!  LOVE IT!  However, as I was looking at putting it together, I wondered how I was going to keep the clear mount alphabet in some kind of order.  With the wood mount alphas, you have a stamp case with slots in it to keep them from getting jumbled.  All my wood mounted alphas are in neat tidy rows in their cases, in alphabetical order.  I can't stand searching thru a jumble of stamps to find the letters I need, or to see if any are missing!  So I pondered and started putting the labels on my foam.  Then it came to me... keep the rubber 'matrix' that is usually tossed into the garbage!  See the photos for how I will be storing my clear alphas :)

Here is the new stamp set, I was giddy with excitement when it arrived!! :)
And here it is opened, and ready to be put together :)  LOVE that everything is die cut in the mini!

...and so I set about putting the label stickers on the foam of these awesome stamps.  When I came up with this brilliance! :)

Do you see what I've done?  I saved the 'matrix' of the stamps, you know, the outline of what was leftover!  I put my labeled stamps back into the slots they came out of, and now the label shows through.  So now I will be able to tell where the letters are, even tho they aren't quite in alphabetical order they are easy enough to find, and I will be able to tell if any letters or the big circle are missing.  *AND* they won't fly all over when I open the case to get them out!! :)  Genious I tell ya! :)  I'm sure someone else has already thought of that tho! LOL!

I'm giving away some blog candy!!  Check out THIS POST for details... a little comment love will get you entries into the draw :)

More Cottage Wall DSP :)

I told you I love this paper!! :)

One of the perks, of the many many perks, of being a Stampin' Up! demonstrator is the awesome magazine we get each month.  It's full of ideas for business and creativity!!  There was a scrapbook page that I really liked in there, so I decided to take some of the elements of it that I loved, and put them to my own pictures :)  This is what I came out with, and I love it!! :)

The pictures are from our trip to Ottawa and the tulip festival last year.  Yeah, I'm in no way current with my scrapping! :)

I also did a patterned paper card front swap.  One of the participants put some sticky strip on striped DSP and added glitter. It was fabulous!  So I have done something similar here.  I used a glue pen and stickified the patterns on the punched flowers and the strip of patterned paper between the photos, then added Dazzling Diamonds glitter!  It is so sparkly in real life!

SUPPLIES:Cardstock: Night of Navy, Pale Plum, Rich Razzleberry, Whisper White
DSP:  Cottage Wall (did I mention how much I love this paper?! LOL)
Accessories:  Large Flower Punch, 3/4 circle punch, Scalloped Trim border punch (from the SAB mini, but will be available in the new Idea Book & Catalogue in July!), Dazzling Diamonds glitter
Ink:  Night of Navy stampin' write marker
